He was the youngest of four children: one sister and two brothers. Paul attended Edmond Public Schools and was a life-long resident of Edmond. After attending Columbia College in Missouri, he returned to Edmond and entered the family business, Howell-Stone Inc., an insurance and bonds company focusing on the commercial construction industry. There he was active in many related professional organizations was well-liked and respected by his peers. He began a family, raising two daughters, staying active in their lives by coaching youth sports, assisting at their school and teaching Sunday school classes at First Christian Church in Edmond. Paul was a good friend, and a good dad; he loved his children more than anything else. Paul was also friend of Bill W (a member of Alcoholics Anonymous), and remained an active, sober member until his death. He mentored and counseled many others as a member and sponsor. He contributed at the local, state, and national level of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA). Several times he served as a speaker at National AA Conventions, sharing his journey to sobriety with thousands of others. He never met a stranger and never thought he was better than anyone else. Paul loved life. He loved music: country, rock, reggae, and Jimmy Buffet. He loved to travel — especially to the ocean and a sandy beach. When he had the time, he loved to SCUBA dive.
